Description

History has it that between the days of Malachi the prophet and the writing of the gospels were about four hundred years! Four hundred years of darkness. Four hundred years of famine of the word of the Lord. Four hundred years of lack of prophetic direction. Four hundred years of no major miraculous manifestations. Four hundred years of seemingly endless waiting for the coming Messiah. Within this window, the enemy took over. The house of prayer was overtaken by thieves and robbers. False prophets and priests invaded the temple. The place where men ought to come and encounter God became a marketplace. The house of God had turned to bureau de change. The Priests who ought to be about the Father's business were going about their own business. They became contractors in doves and currency exchange. The blind and the lame who ought to come and experience healing inside the temple ended up as beggars at the temple gates because there was no power to heal them in the temple.

When God wanted to bring change, he sent and raised a man of prayer. John was sent by God (John 1:6) born of praying parents in answer to prayers (Luke 1:12-13) and was raised in the desert to cultivate a strong spirit of prayer (Luke 1:80). This is God's method of birthing change and revival. The greatest need of all time in all places is men and women of prayer. Like in the words of Wesley Duewel, the greatest lack today is not people or funds, the greatest need is prayer. If we seek to brighten our darkness and turn our night into day, we must be willing above all else to agonise in prayer until the day dawn, and the day star arises in your hearts. If we want to enjoy an abundant flow of revelation of the word and receive a ceaseless flow of prophetic vision for guidance, comfort and edification, we will need to cultivate the habit of bowing our knees in prayers. This was what men like Kenneth E. Hagin did and God opened him to abundant visions and revelations. If we desire to begin to bathe in the river of the miraculous and experience signs and wonders as in the days of old, we must be ready to lay before God in the secret place of prayer until we are endued. This was what men like T.L Osborn and Smith Wigglesworth did and they became men to be wondered at. If we will get the Messiah to come and visit our temples today, chasing out the robbers and them that buy and sell, we must be ready to raise intercessors who will labour in prayer day and night.

John was a great intercessor. He prayed until he got his lost generation to return to God. Soldiers ran to him for baptism and yet he called them vipers. He was not a decorous preacher. He simply preached and there were convictions. His words were filled with power.

To mention, John was not only a great intercessor, he raised other intercessors. He multiplied results by multiplying prayer as he taught his disciples to pray. When the Disciples of Christ saw the company of John wild and lost in prayer, they caught the appetite to pray. Then, they saw their master in prayer and the appetite grew. That is the essence of this book. It is my desire that God will use this book to create an insatiable hunger and thirst for prevailing prayers in the heart of men across the globe.

It is a simple but profound treatise on prayer. It expounds Luke 11:1-5. Inside, you will see:

•How individuals and Nations can bring change through the power of prayer
•How Christ epitomised prayer and He taught it to the disciples as the path to power
•The dynamics of prayer
•What it truly means to be taught to pray
•How to pray to your heavenly Father, enforce His will on earth, enjoy a consistent supply of daily bread, handle the matter of forgiveness, prevail over temptations and evil, handle the glory of answered prayers and do spiritual warfare.
•The Prayer God answers
•How to pray in the Holy Ghost and the benefits

Above all, you will catch the burden and fire of prayer.
